Tumbarumba is the perfect destination for a weekend escape no matter which direction you are coming from. We’ve put together a list of some of the best things to experience while you’re here.
Walks
Hume and Hovell walk – short bite-sized walks can be undertaken starting at the Henry Angel Trackhead and include trails both upstream from the campsite and downstream where the track follows Burra Creek for 3kms through an area with historic evidence of gold mining, past ‘The Cut’ and ‘The Tunnel’ and ‘The Cascades’ on a well-formed trail. Also suitable for multi-day hikes.
Walk up the Police Paddock trail (30 min round trip) from Bridge St, for views over the town (shared path, dogs on lead).
Wander the Creekscape downstream as the walking track crisscrosses the Tumbarumba creek through parklands.
Check out the Sculpture Forest Mountain Ash walk at Pilot Hill Arboretum (off the road to Batlow).

Waterfalls
Head out to Paddy’s River waterfalls, a photographer’s paradise with viewing platforms.
Explore Bago State Forest trails and Buddong Falls and Paddy’s River Dam (4wd required).
Waterways
Mannus Lake is located in the Mannus State Forest, only 10 kilometres by car from Tumbarumba on Mannus Lake Road. It offers day-use recreation and picnic areas, a boat ramp and walks with beautiful views over the lake and is popular with bird watchers, kayakers, fishermen and picnickers.
Paddy’s River Flats camping area on the Tooma Rd past the waterfalls, is an open grassy reserve with toilets and seating areas and swimming access to Paddy’s River.
Head up into Bago State Forest trails to Paddy’s River Dam for canoeing, fishing and camping (4wd required).
