Back in August last year, local businesses were offered the once-in-a-lifetime chance to name one of Mt Tumbarumba’s premier bike trails. Four brave local legends seized the handlebars and pedalled straight into trail-naming history. Check out the lineup of unforgettable trail names with a local twist:
Fast and full of airtime, Send It Express was the perfect fit for Rob and Linda Blencowe of the Tumbarumba Post Office. After all, who better to name a high-speed jump line than the people who deliver daily? The trail has got so much air, it should come with its own postage stamp.
Next up, Grin and Tonic — the cheeky brainchild of Ladbroken Brewhouse. This intermediate gravity trail is serving up smiles with a side of adrenaline.
For those who like their rides black and their routes twisted, Johansen’s Corkscrew Courtesy of Johansen Wines is a tipple of tight turns that will have riders celebrating.
And finally, winding elegantly from the trailhead to the deck with knockout views across town, Location, Location, Location is the scenic route named by Melissa Meli of Ray White Rural Tumbarumba.
Two other trails names also nod to some local supporters. Andersonic was named in recognition of the Anderson family who made the biggest individual donation aptly named as it’s a fast techy link from the tower down to one of the main trail nodes. And Stonestreet – a trail ground into a large granite slab – is a nod to now local resident Trail Builder Craig Stonestreet who was integrally involved in the trail building project.
With trail names like these, Mt Tumbarumba is proving that not only do we build world-class trails — there’s a slice of local pride under every tyre too.
